Description
The YMCA is seeking an engaging, enthusiastic, and nurturing group leader to join our team. This position plays a key role in providing a safe and enriching environment for school aged children to learn, grow, and explore. As a group leader, aiding in the overall operation of high-quality early learning will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. We are willing to train new group leaders and gain experience alongside our highly trained teachers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:

Planning, organizing, and implementing activities (e.g., games, arts and crafts, storytelling) and overall engagement with the children.

Ensure the safety and well-being of the students and maintain a clean and developmentally appropriate environment.

Foster positive relationships with children and their families through effective communication and collaboration.

Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development by encouraging positive relationships and participation in developmentally appropriate activities.

Observe and document children's progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Site Coordinator or childcare management.

Assists in providing reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate in activities.

Qualifications
- Must meet EEC Out of School Time requirements: Minimum of 9 months experience working with school-age children without high school diploma. 6 months experience working with school age children (w/ high school diploma.) Minimum of 3 months' experience working with school-age children (w/BA degree). Must be at least 18 years of age.

Knowledge and experience with EEC regulations.

The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children & families, and volunteers. The ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.

Must meet EEC Educator Professional Development requirements; PQ Registry to reflect all trainings. CPR and 1st Aid required and provided by the Y, Child Protection & Reporting and Employee Safety online trainings upon hire.

Must be able to pass and maintain EEC CORI/SORI background checks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. Activities that may be required as part of the job are climbing, running, swimming and other outdoor activities.
Salary : $18 - $20
