Duration: 12 Month contract- 10-month work/school year (plus 2 days in June)
FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday (plus scheduled events)
Hours: Full-time 7:50 – 3:20

Job Purpose: The Associate Dean of Students works with the Dean of Students to ensure that student needs and concerns outside of academics are dealt with in a compassionate and restorative manner. The Associate Dean of Students supports the Dominican mission and philosophy of St. Agnes Academy in working with students and faculty to maintain a safe and respectful community.
This includes but is not limited to:
· Providing leadership and direction in the St. Agnes Academy community
· Enforcing all school polices as stated in the handbook
· Supporting and collaborating with the Dean of Students on discipline issues as needed
Faith, Community, and Dominican Charism
· Ensure that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted among the school community.
· Develop an active faith community and model Christian values.
· Support prayer and spiritual formation within the student, faculty/staff, and parent communities.
· Uphold and implement the Dominican charism and the Houston Dominican Sisters’ congregational goals.
· Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion by honoring the dignity of each member of the St. Agnes Academy community.
Main Responsibilities:
• Run the detention program including communicating logistics to students and proctors, onboarding new proctors each quarter and holding follow up meeting with students who have after school detention
• Teach a part-time course load of (2 classes each semester)
• Hold follow-up meetings with students who serve after school detention
• Keep records of all infractions and discipline actions using the detention program
• Coordinate Academic Referrals with Associate Academic Dean
• Assist the Dean of Students in communication to the student body regarding schedule changes, assembly dress reminders, etc.
• Maintain the Community Time Calendar
• Work with the Dean of Students on attendance issues and oversee Tardies
• Work with the Dean of Students to update the student handbook as needed
• Oversee Parking Permits in accordance with the student handbook
• Assist in locating missing students
• Attend Case Management Meetings with the Student Support Team
• Attend Tier Review Meetings when applicable
• Attend all school-sponsored dances in a supervisory role
• Attend discipline board hearings
• Attend as many student activities as possible
• Oversee free dress schedule and parameters
• Supervise, schedule, and conduct monthly fire drills, and intruder drills
• Disseminate evacuation route plans to faculty, and file reports on all drills
• Update the crisis management plan annually with Dean of Students and disseminate the full plan to the crisis management team and key elements to the faculty and staff
• Create Meyer Hall seating in conjunction with Campus Ministry and communicate annually to the community
• Plan and help coordinate Assumption of Leadership Ceremony with Dean of Students
• Assist the Dean of Students in the planning of Veritas Vacation Day and Celebrate SAA assembly
Requirements
Qualifications
• Commitment to embrace the mission of St. Agnes Academy
• Minimum of a four-year B.A./B.S. degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling or related field (Master’s level preferred)
• Master’s degree, preferably in Higher Education Administration or Guidance and Counseling.
• Licensed Professional Counselor certification (preferable)
• Excellent judgment, confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
• At least two years’ experience working with students/young people, particularly in a leadership capacity
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and counseling skills, including conflict resolution skills
• Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
• Proven leadership skills and experience
• Passion for quality education and high expectations for all students
• Models standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism
• Meets schedules and deadlines
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Completion of Safe Haven training
