Job Description
Reporting to the Aquatics Director, the Pool Operator and Lifeguard will be a safety-minded,
customer service oriented individual who enjoys working in a busy, community friendly
environment. Well-qualified candidates should have swimming in their background, whether as an
athlete or coach.
Specifically, areas of responsibilities will include:
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility and ensure that policies, guidelines, and
- Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency;
- Provides appropriate emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- Assist with water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form.
The position may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not
preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Reporting: Reports to the Aquatics Director
Salary Range: $23-$30 per hour
Supervision Exercised
For the purposes of management, performance assessment, and span of control, the Pool Operator
and Lifeguard directly supervises:
- N/A
Professional Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Experience: Prior experience as a Lifeguard and Pool Operator; proficiency in
using pool maintenance equipment and technology
Education: Minimally a High School Diploma or equivalent certificate
Certifications: Current Pool Operator's license; Red Cross
Lifeguarding/CPR/FA/AED certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Past swim team experience
- Swim lesson instruction experience
- Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in
working with staff and school administration.

Working Conditions
SCHEDULE – Ability to work a varied schedule; the swim club has lap hours between the hours of:00 AM to 9: 00 AM Monday through Friday and lap hours between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM each
Saturday and Sunday. Between Monday and Friday shifts may start as early as 5:45 AM.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job requires the ability to bend/squat, lift 15-20 pounds, walk
extended periods of time, and be physically active. Must have the ability to swim and perform duties
in the water for extended periods of time.
