Key Responsibilities Include:
- Financial Transactions: Assist with the processing of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Payroll: Perform the payroll function for full and part-time staff and faculty, as well as students and prepares required payroll reporting and tax liabilities in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts, including bank statements and internal accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reporting: Assist with financial reports and statements, ensuring timely and accurate submission to internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with university policies, accounting principles, and federal/state regulations.
- Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation for all transactions.
- Communication: Collaborate with various departments to resolve accounting issues and provide support on financial matters.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment.
- Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software and the ability to learn new software concepts, Microsoft Excel, and other financial tools.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal controls.
