St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in its psychology program. Start date is negotiable (i.e. as soon as August 2024 or as late as January 2025). The University's psychology program-one of the University's most highly enrolled undergraduate programs-prides itself on preparing students for a wide variety of careers and graduate programs in the health sciences and social service industries.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a PhD in psychology (ABDs will be considered).
- Be prepared to teach undergraduate psychology courses on brain and behavior (physiological psychology), sensation and perception, learning, and psychological research. The successful candidate may also enjoy opportunities to teach in additional areas that align with their areas of interest and expertise.
- Be enthusiastic about approaching teaching and learning in innovative ways that generate interest in the discipline, strengthen student engagement, and prepare students for professional success.
- Be firmly committed to high quality teaching / learning facilitation and to active, project-based/applied learning.
- Demonstrate the capacity to work productively and collaboratively with faculty and staff in the program, College, and University.
- Have successful teaching experience at the college level or demonstrate promise thereof.
- Be comfortable with, or willing to learn, the use of digital technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Have the ability and desire to mentor and guide undergraduate student research.
- Possess the willingness and capacity to teach in a variety of different formats (i.e., face-to-face, online, and hybrid) as dictated by program and student needs.
- Be committed to mentoring students, including serving as an academic advisor.
- Have the desire and ability to maintain an ongoing program of professional development and service.
