St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Financial Secretary
I. TITLE: Financial Secretary
II. CLASSIFICATION: Part time-Exempt, without benefits
III. HOURS: 25 hours a week, 15 scheduled hours in office, 10 hours remote
IV. REPORTS TO: Pastor (Head of Staff)
V. PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining records of all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner, according to GAAP practices, and procedures, in order to report to the Church Treasurer and to the Session to help with financial decisions and planning. Must have knowledge of Fund Accounting for churches and non-profit accounting practices.
VI. ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Pastor as Head of Staff and attending the Stewardship and Interpretation Committee meetings monthly
VII. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributions/Cash Management:
a. Adhere to financial policies and procedures.
b. Tally, enter, deposit and maintain contributions and other payments.
c. Maintain contribution records and generate and send contribution statements.
d. Take deposits to the bank.
e. Reconciles bank statements.
Accounts Payable:
f. Review accounts payable; edit for accuracy.
g. Produce weekly check runs.
h. Pay vendor invoices.
i. Maintain copy of all payments.
Payroll:
j. Maintain accurate payroll records, and review payroll edits after entry.
k. Maintain employee payroll files.
l. Prepares a semi-monthly payroll for all employees and contractors for the Church, The Children’s Place, and The Treehouse.
m. Works with Board of Pensions to acquire and input yearly information.
n. Review and verify 941s.
o. Produce and distribute 1099s for vendors.
p. Collect and submits I-9 forms along with W-4 forms.
q. Liaise with Worker’s Comp auditors.
General Ledger:
r. Maintain accurate ledgers with documentation in QuickBooks of detailed transactions.
s. Manage all church financial systems including Vanco, Realm giving and PayChex or other future software.
t. Assist auditors.
u. Make journal entries.
VIII. RELATIONSHIPS: Collaborate with committee/church members on items related to church accounting.
IX. EVALUATION: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor and reported to the Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee will review annually the adequacy of compensation and make recommendations to the Session.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
