Support Service Staff

St. Andrews Retirement Community -

Hiring Fulltime position for all evening shift; may be scheduled evenings or nights as needed; will rotate working weekends and holidays.

The function of the Support Service Staff is to provide life-skill support assistance to our residents; bearing in mind we are an assisted living facility.

Phone and pager and keys must always be carried. Answer the phone and direct the call to the requested location.

Calling 911 in the event of emergencies and remaining calm for the residents.

Calling families in the event of falls, medication mix-ups, etc.

Documenting calls and services to residents in the communication book. Completing incident reports for any calls to EMTs or falls, etc.

You are responsible for knowing the daily schedule, which is in the communication log. The binders in the resident’s apartment should be signed at the time you checked when you check.

Taking meal orders and delivering meals, in a timely manner, to residents who have requested delivery. Assist residents as needed to the dining room for meals.

Assisting with bathing, minimal dressing assistance, incontinence reminders, bathroom assist, and other activities of daily living. If the resident has an accident, assist them in getting clean and clean the area as well.

Follow work sheet / care plan step by step on each shift. Everyone is unique; the work sheet will give specifics for each resident.

Pick up trash any time residents set it out.

Give daily medication reminders. Ensure residents have taken medication.

Deliver mail / packages / medications left at front desk in a timely manner.

All shifts are required to be awake at all times during their shift. The residents are the focus.

All duties will be explained, as to procedures and times, by the Director of Support.

Employees must meet all corporate general employment requirements.

This position requires compassion, empathy, tact, and a sense of urgency.
