St. Ann's Home & School is hiring a physical education teacher for our summer session. St. Ann's Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services
The physical education teacher is responsible for preparing, implementing, and maintaining a quality physical education program to improve physical fitness levels in emotionally troubled students. Specific duties include: planning and teaching lessons, testing and evaluation of students, grade and report preparation, and supervising the physical education assistant.
The physical education teacher also organizes school wide field activities, and, in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist is responsible for offering gross motor work to small groups of students with such deficits.
The physical education teacher should have certification as a physical education instructor. Experience with emotionally troubled students is helpful.
The physical education teacher should be physically fit and active with the ability to demonstrate physical sports related skills such as running, jumping, hopping, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling. The physical education teacher should also be able to move equipment weighing 50 pounds, and physically restrain children.
The mission of St. Ann's Home & School is to provide a continuum of assessment, treatment, educational, and community-based services for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of mental health, emotional, and educational challenges.
