The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and may be directed by the Environmental Services Director, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities: The Maintenance Technician responsibilities include completing repairs and pest control, grounds maintenance, snow plowing, performing preventative maintenance, and completing quality assurance processes to continuously improve services while fostering a welcoming and resident-centered environment. This role will be responsible for participating in other special projects and duties as assigned to enhance the well-being of the residents.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including CMS, OSHA, The Life Safety Code, Health Care Facilities Code, and infection control standards. Participate in surveys, audits, and inspections; ensure timely correction of any identified deficiencies. Complete maintenance logs, safety checks, and staff training.
Communication: Keep regular, open communication with the Environmental Services Director on facility needs and the status of repairs.
Unparalleled Service: Uphold for self the highest standards of customer service at all times to residents and guests. Assist team as needed, in order to exceed resident’s expectations.
Flexibility: The ability to shift gears and implement new topics and processes quickly to address emerging facility needs. Participate in the Maintenace team on call rotation. During winter months, participate in snow plowing rotation. Your work schedule may require conformity to department needs and outcomes.
Other duties as assigned to meet standards and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience. Nursing facility experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands for time and attention.
- Ability to be self-motivated to achieve desired organizational goals.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of associates, residents, and family members.
- Ability to apply reason, logic, and advanced problem-solving skills to resolve complex and/or sensitive issues.
- Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
- Strong computer skills and keyboarding skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly master new applications.
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy.
- Works well in team environment
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines, through disciplined approaches and clear communication.
- The ability to locate, track, organize and summarize information.
- Able and willing to coach and train others.
