JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the general health and well being of the residents.
JOB RELATIONS Is responsible to the Nurse Supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Education: Graduate of an approved Nursing School. Current North Dakota license to practice nursing.
2. Training/experience: Previous experience in geriatric nursing very helpful. 3. Physical demands:
A. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. B. Walking and standing, a maximum of 80% of the time.
C. Hand and finger dexterity to manipulate nursing equipment related to nursing and in dispensing medications.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with residents having special problems.
5. Observation skills to assess the health and well being of the residents.
6. Ability to drive a car.
7. Ability to use good judgement skills in dealing with residents, families, visitors, and outside agencies.
8. Valid driver's license.
9. Computer and software knowledge.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sets up medications and dispenses them to the residents.
2. Performs necessary nursing documentation: Nursing Notes, Medication Sheets, and in the absence of the Nurse Supervisor, weekly weights.
3. Observes the policies and procedures for Infection Control and Hazardous Materials Program.
4. Carries out physician orders.
5. Assists in making doctor's appointments and arranges transportation to the clinics.
6. Supervises the Infection Control Program within the facility.
7. Schedules required annual in-services.
8. Attends annual in-service meetings. 9. Maintains good working relations with outside agencies.
10. Schedules required annual in-services for staff.
11. Schedules annual CPR re-certification training for staff.
12. Schedules flu shots in the fall.
13. Maintains the Nurse's Office in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
14. Annually reviews policies and procedures.
15. Carries out tasks of the nursing supervisor in her absence.
16. Performs necessary foot care for diabetics.
17. Monitor monthly and weekly blood pressures. 18. Assists with double checking new orders and monthly medication sheets.
