The ECE program is an Early Head Start and Head Start program that services children, ages birth to 5 years of age, and their families. Our program supports school readiness by focusing on health, mental health, nutrition, family engagement and social/emotional development. All of our Early Childhood Education services are free to eligible families.
What You Will Do
The Health Educator supports in the overseeing of medical conditions, medical administrations, and health-related accommodations. This position will review health documentation to make determinations regarding health status of children and provide health-related education to parents and staff.

What You Will Do
The Health Educator supports in the overseeing of medical conditions, medical administrations, and health-related accommodations. This position will review health documentation to make determinations regarding health status of children and provide health-related education to parents and staff.
- Support the Health team and collaborate with other teams and parents for ongoing care and individualization of health services to children
- Provide Health education to parents and education staff
- Support the implementation of strategies to best individualize services address health-related concerns
- Liaison with medical and dental providers to obtain Well-Child Examinations, Dental Examinations, and follow-ups for medical conditions, medical administration, and other health related concerns
- Conduct classroom observations and file reviews; Enter and analyze data into Child Plus database; Maintain records and inventory of supplies
- Communicate with Department of Public Health and other agencies when there are contagious outbreaks or other health-related concerns
- Support in the completion of Postpartum/Newborn home visits to provide support and educate new parents
- Support in the completion of medical administration consent forms with guardians; Check medication into the classroom
- Alert parents to pending Health Assessment requirements
- Meet with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Nutrition consultants for monitoring visits
- Home Visits and traveling to all centers is required, as needed
- Associate degree in health or related field required
- Experience working with Head Start or Early Head Start strongly preferred
- Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred
- Valid CA Class C Driver’s License required
- Valid Auto Insurance required
- Access to a reliable automobile
- Pay Rate: $23.22 hourly
- Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 07:30 AM – 05:00 PM; Friday 07:30 AM – 04:00 PM; alternating Friday OFF
- Non-exempt
