Purpose
Responsible for supporting Billing Specialist with on-site activities, including but not limited to assisting residents and families with Medicaid applications and renewals, management of resident trust account activities, census and payer verification, and assisting with collection of accounts receivable. Responsible for cash management functions, including deposits, petty cash, facility bank account, resident trust and bank reconciliation.
Wage:
$24-28 per hour based on experience.
Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities
Office Management Functions
- Responsible for cash management functions, including deposits, petty cash, facility bank account, resident trust and bank reconciliation
- Assist with collection of accounts receivable in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Provide customer service for residents and/or responsible parties.
- Maintain daily facility census, reconciling discrepancies with other departments.
- Verify Medicare/Medicaid/Insurance eligibility and benefits. Obtain or verify prior authorizations.
- Remain up to date on Federal and State billing guidelines
- Provide information to resident/families as to Medicare/Medicaid, and other financial assistance programs available to the resident
- Assist in obtaining resources from community social, health and welfare agencies to meet the needs of the resident.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
- Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years Skilled Nursing billing and collections, including Medicare, Medicaid and Insurance billing.
- Minimum of two years accounting or bookkeeping related post- secondary education.
- Proficiency in SNF billing including UB04s and HCFA 1500s
- Proficiency in computer use including Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of basic generally accepted accounting principles.
Salary : $24 - $28
