FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (30 to 60 min unpaid lunch) 40 hours per week (some weekends)

Reports to: Parish Operations Director

The Custodian will clean, sanitize, and maintain areas by providing daily cleaning services for St. Anthony de Padua Parish.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning to include but not limited to dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing and vacuuming Chapel, church, offices, Hall, RE Buildings, bathrooms and meeting spaces .
  • Develops and adheres to cleaning schedule to assure cleanliness is maintained.
  • Communicates effectively with management to address issues or problem areas.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with staff/faculty to address cleaning needs/requests.
  • Stocking/Replacing of cleaning supplies where refilling is needed (i.e. bathrooms, meeting spaces).
  • Sanitizing/disinfecting frequently used areas around parish buildings (i.e. doors, tables).
  • Disposing of waste in parish buildings to designated area for pick up.
  • Organizing cleaning closets/carts for use.
  • Notifies maintenance/facilities department of needed maintenance or repairs.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in cleaning including dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals/supplies and equipment use.
  • Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of parishioners, staff, and/or guests.
  • Good interpersonal skills with polite and courteous demeanor toward staff and visitors to the property.
  • Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • A solid grasp of cleaning and organizing.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
