Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provides supervision and support to assigned clinic nursing staff.
  • Provides conflict management and fosters positive interpersonal relationships with staff.
  • Facilitates collaboration between nursing staff, receptionists, providers, and other departments.
  • Responsible for hiring, orientation, training, and disciplinary action for assigned nursing staff.
  • Conducts regular performance reviews as directed by clinic policy.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, interpreting philosophy, goals, standards, policies and procedures in accordance with Hospital Mission and Values. Maintains department policies, personnel and procedures that comply with local, state and other standards.

Clinical Support

  • Oversees daily nursing workflow, including review of staffing needs and availability.
  • Provide nursing coverage when additional staff are unavailable.
  • Aids in identifying continuous improvement opportunities and developing solutions in alignment with hospital and clinic goals.
  • Evaluates nursing staff regularly to monitor for competency and training needs
  • Coordinates and conducts ongoing training for nursing staff.

Administrative

  • Publishes a monthly schedule of nursing assignments.
  • Assists Director as needed in providing staff meetings and in-services.
  • Assists with maintaining an inventory of supplies.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

General

  • Practices and behaves in a professional, safe and ethical manner at all times.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Maintains friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
  • Participates in performance improvement and educational activities. Completes all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintains an active and current license.
  • Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
  • Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
  • Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities under the department Director’s guidance in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Oversees all assigned family medicine, specialty, and orthopedics nurses.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelors of Science in Nursing, BSN preferred) Current license to practice nursing in the state.
  • Three years of experience in a clinic or related setting.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Position Requirements, Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to work effectively and positively with a variety of patients, employees, departments, and the public.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess effective time management skills.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, patients, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to management, the public and/or board of directors.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to infectious diseases and occupational dangers like accidental needle pricks. Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.

The employee may be exposed to combative patients.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Experience

Required
  • 3 year(s): Three years of experience in a clinic or related setting. Previous leadership experience.

Education

Required
  • Associates or better in Leadership or related field

Licenses & Certifications

Required
  • RN
