Responsibilities
- Collects blood specimens and non-blood samples for laboratory testing
- Processes and distributes test results to healthcare providers
- Accurately accession lab orders into the laboratory information system
- Performs screening tests, such as drug screens, and processes paternity cases
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure accurate and efficient testing
- May perform front desk duties, including answering phone calls and registering outpatients
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred
- 80 hours training in proper venipuncture procedure required
- Effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to read and interpret documents
- Valid Iowa driver's license, reliable transportation, and adequate insurance
- Good driving record required
