Key Responsibilities
- Obtains blood and non-blood specimens from patients using various collection methods
- Labels and prepares specimens for transport to the laboratory
- Accurately enters patient information and test orders into the laboratory information system
- Ensures accurate and efficient processing of specimens, including sample preparation and centrifugation
- Communicates with patients, nurses, and other healthcare providers to obtain necessary information and resolve issues
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred
- 80 hours training in proper venipuncture procedure required
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds occasionally
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
