Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a resource to staff, interpreting philosophy, goals, standards, policies and procedures in accordance with Hospital Mission and Values. Maintains department policies, personnel and procedures that comply with local, state and other standards.
- Maintains current knowledge base in areas of management, health care, nursing and patient services division.
- Assists in directing and managing day-to-day functions of Patient Services in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Provides timely follow-through in response to problem solving and reports to the appropriate Director or designee.
- Participates in development and review of standards of care, policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Serves as staff representative and advocate. Communicates issues and concerns to appropriate Director and/or Vice President when appropriate.
- Makes contact with all nursing units during assigned shift and acts as a resource to Nursing Home as needed.
- Collaborates with Staffing Coordinator and nursing managers in providing appropriate staff to meet patient, family and hospital needs.
- Works with medical staff and other departments, promoting acceptable level of quality care to meet patient needs and realistic expectations.
- Maintains clinical competence and provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department and other areas as necessary.
- Assists with training and professional development opportunities to ensure clinical competence.
- Identifies ways to impact revenue enhancement and effect resource utilization.
- Demonstrates expert nursing skills, triages appropriately in the Emergency Department.
- Participates in department's quality improvement activities.
- Practices and behaves in a professional, safe and ethical manner at all times.
- Serves as a patient advocate.
- Maintains friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
- Participates in performance improvement and educational activities. Completes all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintains an active and current license.
- Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
- Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
- Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

- Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities under the department Director’s guidance in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelors of Science in Nursing, BSN preferred) Current license to practice nursing in the state.
- Three years of experience as a staff nurse.
- Leadership experience preferred.
Position Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- ACLS, PALS and TNCC certification within six months of employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to work effectively and positively with a variety of patients, employees, departments, and the public.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess effective time management skills.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
