Job Overview
Hiring Immediately!!! We are looking for a reliable and skilled Senior Center Bus Driver. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting seniors to the senior center, various activities, programs, and trips while ensuring their safety and adhering to traffic laws. Patience and empathy when working with seniors and individuals with disabilities are essential qualities for this position.
Duties
- Transport seniors to and from their homes to the senior center.
- Drive seniors to and from doctor's appointments, shopping trips, and other activities.
- Occasionally work past 3:30 PM if seniors are going on long-distance trips.
- Deliver Meals on Wheels daily at lunchtime within the City of Wilmington.
- Operate the senior center bus in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner while adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable vehicle.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with mobility limitations.
- Work closely with the Senior Center Director and communicate any delays or changes to the route.
- Utilize navigation technology or maps as needed.
- Complete a daily maintenance vehicle checklist and report any issues to the appropriate staff member.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Have a good sense of direction and the ability to read maps and/or use GPS software.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with seniors and other staff members.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and assist passengers with mobility issues.
- Able to pass background checks as required by company policy.
- Capable of lifting coolers weighing up to 30 pounds.
Work Schedule
- Monday though Friday
- Approximately 8:30am to 3:30pm
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 40 per week
