Long Term Substitute Teaching Position
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in specific subject area or closely related field required.
- Master’s degree in specific subject area or closely related field desirable.
- NJ Teacher Certification and/or prior secondary school teaching experience desirable.
- Possesses excellent knowledge and understanding of a broad base of artistic skills, artists, and art history from various nations and cultures with an ability to teach art to all levels of high school students
- Demonstrates solid understanding of strategies to teach, assess, and promote the subject of Art and possesses the ability to provide effective instruction of artistic skills.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills and learning in artistic techniques and expression and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
- Demonstrates the ability to confer with parents and students in a cooperative effort to understand the student and to encourage progress and communicates student progress via grade postings to MyPrep in a timely manner
- Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, understands the adolescent learner, and is flexible and energetic.
- Possesses desire to celebrate the artistic achievements of students at semester “Celebration of the Arts” events (setup, coordination, and preparation of student artwork display) and promotes the Fine Arts of St. Augustine Prep in our school and local communities.
- Is willing to be involved with students in an extracurricular capacity to promote the Fine Arts at our school.
- Demonstrates proficiency in relevant computer and software applications.
- Demonstrates the ability to confer with parents and students in a cooperative effort to understand the student and to encourage progress.
- Understands the mission of the school and is willing and able to promote Augustinian values of VERITAS (Truth), UNITAS (Unity) and CARITAS (Love).
- Displays the highest level of ethical and professional behavior.
