What are the responsibilities and job description for the Addiction Medicine Social Worker position at St. Barnabas?
The Addiction Medicine Social Worker will conduct individual counseling sessions, opened and closed groups, family and conjoint counseling sessions. Present alcoholism and substance abuse educational information to patients and significant others.
function as a part of an inter-disciplinary team. Ensures referrals to modalities of such as determined by the needs of the patient.
Write clear, timely, concise progress notes, areas of conflict short term, long term treatment planning and psychosocial history.
Assess new patients upon admission.
Conduct small group activities.
Function in a leadership capacity and resource person for the counselors.
Provide timely progress reports to referring agencies.
Provide professional guidance to counselors.
Assist counselors in assessment of patients psychological / psychiatric needs and make appropriate referrals.
Understand the Diversion Prevention Plan for the Methadone Substance Abuse Treatment Program and Medically Managed Detoxification Unit.
Master degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW) within one year
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) within one year
