In conjunction with the Dean of Students, and Associate Director for Intramural, Recreation and Club Sports this persons will be responsible for the management and administration of two competitive Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) hockey programs; consisting of a developmental plan for practices, recruiting, travel arrangements, game planning and general coaching of two successful Ice Hockey programs. This person will also support all areas that fall under recreation, Intramurals and Club Sports.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Schedules and conducts regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted Upstate New York Collegiate Hockey League, Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), USA Hockey and St. Bonaventure University. Develops and implements strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team.35Oversees the recruitment and selection of student-athletes. Ensures compliance with the Amateur Athletic Union guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects. 10Monitors the eligibility status and promotes the academic progress of student-athletes by working closely with the Associate Director of Intramurals, Recreation and Club Sports.5Arranges a competitive event schedule, in conjunction with the assigned administrator.10Supervises D2 Coach, assistant coaches, part-time assistant coaches and graduate assistants if applicable. Provides orientation, training and guidance as needed. 15Supports and attends recreation, intramural and club sports events and assists in logistics for scheduling of events, travel and team club sport team needs.20Maintains and orders equipment for the Rathskeller Games5Supplemental Functions: Collaborates with Associate Director of Intramural, Recreation and Club Sports on the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment, to include uniforms, athletic equipment and supplies.Coordinates team travel with the assigned administrator as well as assisting in travel arrangements for other club sport teams and general recreation purchases and inventoryCollaborates with the strength and conditioning coach on the conditioning and training of team members to ensure that student athletes are physically prepared for competition.Supervisory ResponsibilityMay provide oversight for one or more student workers, including graduate assistants.
