The English department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a Muellerleile Endowed Chair. This opening is a full-time, 9-month tenure track position. Preferred start for this faculty member would be Fall 2025-2026.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Advise and mentor students majoring in English or considering the major
- Build a working relationship with Admissions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the business community in order to facilitate experiential learning for English majors
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with secondary schools and community colleges to build pipelines for English majors
- Work with the Development Office to pursue support from donors
- Work with Career Planning to develop internships for English majors and to practice their skills in the work world
- Work with Spree to secure grants to support the English Department and its majors
- Liaise with the Marketing and Communications to highlight the story of the department
- Promote the discipline and the department at St. Kate’s via a public intellectual presence
- Develop goals in consultation with English colleagues for a promotional strategy
- Further develop assessment measures for English major Career Readiness
- Excellent teaching of courses in the face-to-face, hybrid or fully online format
- Develop and/or update courses as needed especially with regard to Career Readiness
- Mentor students
- Conduct innovative and respected research in their field
- Serve as a mentor to faculty in their area of expertise
- Participate in curriculum design and assessment particularly with respect to Career Readiness
- Participate in shared governance of the university through service on committees
Salary Range: $75,000-100,000

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree; must be a terminal degree in English, comparative literature, rhetoric / composition, writing, or other relevant field.
- Applicants must have a strong record of research accomplishments, as documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Academic accomplishments suitable for the rank of associate professor or professor.
- Current, robust research agenda including relevant publications in innovative Humanities curriculum design, pedagogy, career preparation, or similar.
- Experience teaching in online, hybrid and in-person formats.
- Experience teaching, advising and mentoring students.
- Experience involving students in relevant research projects.
- Record of excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public-oriented or project-oriented scholarship/service and/or collaborative work.
- Digital Humanities projects that advance the study of literature or writing.
- Grant writing experience.
- Experience building partnerships between higher education and community colleges and other secondary institutions.
- Experience building partnerships with employers.
