Advertisement The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) in the School of Humanities, Arts and Sciences at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full time, tenure-track,12-month position for the academic year 2025- 2026 with a preferred start date of Summer 2025. Rank offered will be commensurate with experience of the applicant.
As the only ALA-accredited program in Minnesota, the MLIS Program is a fully online program that educates students in the principles, practices, and ethics of library and information science and prepares them to be active leaders in a rapidly changing information society. The program is deeply committed to authentic learning, community engagement, inclusive excellence, and social justice.The Program Director / Ranked Faculty (MLIS) isresponsible for visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Program. The Director oversees program development, recruitment, student advisement, curriculum review, and accreditation compliance, as well as represents the Program with academic, professional, and broader community groups.
Responsibilities :
- Provide overall leadership for the MLIS program (MLIS degree and School Library Media Specialist licensure), ensuring academic excellence and alignment with professional trends and ALA accreditation standards.
- Lead strategic planning and future visioning in a changing higher education environment.
- Lead curriculum development, revision, and evaluation. Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and align course content with professional trends and academic standards.
- Lead efforts in program evaluation, assessment, and ALA accreditation compliance.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty. Provide leadership and support for faculty to incorporate innovative teaching methodologies and technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
- Manage administrative staff who support the program’s operations, including recruitment, scheduling, student advising, and coordination of events.
- Work with university leadership to develop and manage the program’s budget.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support program initiatives and scholarships.
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain high-quality students, including work with the Admissions and Recruitment Office to facilitate information sessions.
- Collaborate with university offices (Admissions and Recruitment, Registrar, Academic Technology, and others) to ensure effective program implementation.
- Represent the MLIS program at university-wide meetings, professional organizations, and conferences.
- Build and maintain relationships with alumni, professional organizations, libraries, archives, and other stakeholders.
Salary : $84,000-101,617.33
