The Campus Life department at St. Catherine University is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Residence Coordinator . This integral role is grounded in our commitment to enhancing the student experience and advancing social justice within our vibrant community. As a Residence Coordinator, this position is at the heart of our mission to provide innovative and educational services that uplift voices and foster meaningful moments for our diverse student body with a focus on those students who live on campus.

In this live-on position, this position will support approximately 320 students across multiple residence halls, offering guidance and advocacy in their personal, academic, and leadership journeys at St. Kate's. Responsibilities include supervising and developing a team of up to 18 Resident Assistants (RAs), supporting living-learning environments, and contributing to various campus committees and student leadership initiatives. This role involves regular interaction with residents to address academic concerns, mediate peer conflicts, and manage personal issues, all while playing a key role in student retention and satisfaction.

This position will have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple facets of the Campus Life department, including Residence Life, Orientation, Student Government, the Information Center, and Clubs and Organizations. This position offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on our campus community while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities Include : Supervision

  • Recruit, train, support, and evaluate Resident Advisors
  • Meet weekly with RAs
  • Support paraprofessional staff
  • Uphold consistent departmental accountability model for direct paraprofessional staff
  • Track coaching celebrations and concerns, providing consistent feedback weekly

Community Development & Student Support

  • Support Campus Life engagement initiatives
  • Aid in development, execution, and assessment in community development and student engagement model
  • Execute strategies and initiatives to support, recruit, and retain students with marginalized identities.
  • Hold consistent office hours.
  • Support community engagement initiatives Residence Life supports, both internal and external (e.g. Citizen Katie, Late Night Breakfast, etc)
  • Partner closely with Associate Director for Living Learning Community support.
  • Mediate roommate / resident conflicts
  • Provide guidance for residents on low level personal, academic, and social issues that come through referral systems (e.g. mental health, personal relationships , financial, and academic concerns)
  • Meet with all students requesting student accessibility and accommodations
  • Support students with accommodation needs to obtain individualized support as needed.
  • Crisis Response & Support

  • Respond to and follow up with students involved in emergency and crisis situations.
  • Assume professional staff duty responsibilities as part of rotation year-round, including holidays and weekends.
  • Coach and support paraprofessional staff serving in their on duty capacity.
  • While on duty, be within expected range of campus.
  • Must live on campus.
  • Collaborative Partnerships & Special Projects

  • Work collaboratively with staff from other departments to support and retain students.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with custodial / maintenance staff and Public Safety.
  • Serve on special committees, as assigned (i.e. RA selection, RA training, professional staff training, community development)
  • Support external special committees (e.g. Citizen Katie, Orientation collaboration, Room Preview, Food Insecurity Project, etc.)
  • Assist in training and development of paraprofessional staff.
  • Area Management - Operational Support

  • Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of residence halls.
  • Assist with opening halls in fall, and closing during break periods and end of academic year.
  • Conduct building rounds once a week for facilities community warmth and RA decor checks.
  • Conduct Management

  • Address low level behavioral concerns with residence hall students as an official hearing officer of the University.
  • Actively explain and enforce guidelines of conduct, which protect individual rights.
  • Meet Code of Conduct timeline requirements to ensure an equitable and just process for students
  • Approach conduct process with an educational and restorative frame.
  • Other Duties

  • Utilize university PCard responsibly.
  • Support budget management for responsible areas.
  • Other committee responsibilities as assigned through intentional thought and with residents centered.
  • This position is an ever evolving appointment. Other innovative and creative opportunities will continue to pop up.
  • Salary Range : $44,000

    The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with college aged students
  • Experience planning and / or organizing events and / or programs
  • Availability for evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to live on campus as primary residence
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an RA (or equivalent) or senior RA
  • Supervision of undergraduate staff
  • Experience working in higher education or residence life
  • Experience serving in a crisis response / duty service role
  • Effective time and project management skills
