**Job Summary**
We are seeking a full-time Database Administrator who will be responsible for administering, architecting, and maintaining the College's Unidata and MS SQL Server databases.
The ideal candidate will have experience with database lifecycle management, security, reliability, and integrity. They should stay current with best practices for database security and availability.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Database Lifecycle Management: Install, manage, and maintain entire lifecycle of MS SQL servers in a high-availability environment.
- Database Security and Integrity: Ensure the security, reliability, and integrity of all databases. Stay current with best practices for database security and availability.
- Database Architecture: Review, evaluate, and implement requests for changes to database architecture.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize system and database performance. Tune and balance clustered SQL servers.
- Reporting and Capacity Planning: Assist end-users in developing and using database reporting tools. Manage and provide capacity planning.
- Database Monitoring: Monitor database server performance and health.
- Backup Strategy: Create and administer a proper database backup strategy as part of a Managed Information Lifecycle.
- Technical Documentation: Write technical documentation for internal IT audiences.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline plus four years of full-time relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with implementations, upgrades, and patching databases.
- Proficiency in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively.
- Experience with Unidata databases and higher education strongly preferred.
