Job Description
Charles Community College is a public, comprehensive two-year institution located just west of St. Louis.
Established in 1986, SCC offers associate degrees and certificate programs in various fields, including the arts, business, sciences, and career-technical areas.
The college also provides workforce training, community-based personal and professional development, cultural, recreational, and entertainment opportunities.
Part-time Faculty Position
SCC invites qualified candidates to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or Intensive English part-time faculty positions for reading, writing, oral skills, and composition courses.
Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, as needed.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in TESOL or applied linguistics is required.
- More than 15 graduate hours study in another sub-skill area, such as education, composition, reading/phonics, pronunciation, culture, writing, or foreign language, is a plus.
Responsibilities
Teach ESL and/or Intensive English courses, focusing on reading, writing, oral skills, and composition.
Develop and implement curriculum that meets students' needs and achieves educational goals.
Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to improve their skills.
Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators to ensure a positive learning environment.
Stay current with best practices in teaching ESL and/or Intensive English, attending workshops and conferences as needed.
