The Academic Coach - Chemistry will play a vital role in providing personalized academic support to students, focusing on their success in a wide range of courses and disciplines. This position involves coaching students on effective study techniques, time management, and goal setting, while coordinating workshops, tutoring sessions, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the student experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for student success and a drive to ensure students are maximizing their potential at the college.
Responsibilities
The Academic Coach will provide one-on-one coaching to students, focusing on study techniques, time management, and strategies for mastering their respective subject. The coach will actively promote tutoring and coaching services on and off campus for their respective discipline, encouraging students to seek assistance and utilize the robust services The Excelerator is offering. In this capacity, the Academic Coach will also work closely with faculty, advisors, and other campuses regarding their respective disciplines, ensuring students have access to resources for comprehensive academic support. Additionally, the coach must participate in campus-wide initiatives aimed at improving student retention and student success in their field of discipline.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, the Academic Coach must possess a Bachelor's degree in appropriate supported discipline (Chemistry) or related field. Six (6) months experience tutoring or student services within a Higher Education institution or Master's degree preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. Experience with Physics is also preferred.
