About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team at St. Charles Health System. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, collecting blood samples from patients with minimal discomfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with diverse patients and colleagues, providing excellent customer service skills.
- Process laboratory orders and perform phlebotomy procedures while maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Navigate complex computer systems to find MD orders, update patient information, and verify test results.
- Distribute lab results via fax, phone, or delivery as designated or requested by clients.
- Assist in special projects and train/mendor new staff members as needed.
Additional Duties for Laboratory Phlebotomists
- Greet clients upon arrival and assist RNs and MDs in blood sample collection during specialty procedures.
- Respond quickly to codes, traumas, and rapid responses, navigating tight spaces when necessary.
- Select the correct patient and assign an encounter number, register patients for laboratory services, and collect payments when required.
- Research tests and diagnostic codes according to billing and insurance requirements, mainly pertaining to Medicare and other government-funded insurance programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Preferred: Phlebotomy certification through a St. Charles Health System-approved accredited agency or participation in college-level science classes.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.
This is a full-time position working days, with weekend and holiday coverage in Bend. The typical pay range is $21.84 - $27.31.
