Job Summary About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the Districts safety and administrative policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.
Required: Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must. Knowledge of how to greet the public courteously, obtain information and provide accurate and informative guidance. Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Maintain DCFS mandated reporter certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred: Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer work experience in reception and customer service, including basic computer skills and knowledge.
Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park Districts safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
- Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
- Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Norris Recreation Center and the Membership Services Supervisor, the Guest Services Associate shall complete their assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District, fellow colleagues, and community members. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
- Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow colleagues.
- Answer telephones and greet and accommodate customers.
- Provide information and assistance to fellow colleagues.
- Effectively communicate orally.
- Process memberships and registrations, collect fees, issue receipts and initiate refunds for programs and activities.
- Notify class participants of class changes or cancellations.
- Operate various office machines such as copier, fax, telephone, credit card reader, computer and printer as needed.
- Maintain a working knowledge and the ability to enforce and explain Park District and Norris Recreation Center procedures, rules and policies.
- Complete opening and closing procedures and daily checklists.
- Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere at the service desk.
- Keep the service desk and lobby areas clean and neat.
- Distribute incoming mail and dispatch outgoing mail.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Perform first aid, CPR/AED and execute emergency procedures as necessary.
Marginal Functions of the Position
- Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- Set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
- Assist and maintain the building cleanliness and integrity.
