Job Summary – About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality with an enthusiastic attitude. Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact, organizational skills and productivity.
Required: High School Diploma or in process. Minimum 16 years of age. Must be able to communicate instructions in a professional and enthusiastic manner. Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff. Must display a high degree of emotional maturity while keeping difficult situations in proper perspective. Must be detail oriented with the ability to process information accurately, and use independent judgment when needed. Must have or complete Mandated Reporter certification within 30 days of hire date.
Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
- Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
- Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Aquatics, RVMG and Haines Manager, Aquatics and Youth Programs Supervisor, the Pool Manager and the Assistant Pool Manager, the Slide Attendant shall complete assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for successful operation of facility.
- Maintain order at assigned stations throughout the facility.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties, and while on park district premises.
- Abide by uniform standards while on duty.
- Assist in daily cleaning of assigned areas. Help maintain overall cleanliness of facility.
- Secure a substitute for any scheduled hours that cannot be worked.
- Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, staff and affiliates.
- Strictly enforce all general safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior.
- Continue education by attending staff meetings, and training sessions.
- Understand and utilize the communication resources of the entire facility including but not limited to two-way radios, phones and the PA system.
- Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions and pool hazards and execute effective emergency action plans.
- Maintain and carry out all City, County, State Health Departments, and the St. Charles Park District’s rules and regulations.
