JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Temporary Maintenance Aide
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor / Asset Management Director / Property Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
DUTIES: See Attached
SALARY: $15.50 - $16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
FLSA: Non- Exempt
WORK LOCATION: SCCHA properties located through-out St. Clair County
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Good Character
No serious convictions (consent to criminal background check required); good driving record.
General
Familiarity with area; resident of work areas strongly preferred.
Physical Condition
Ability to perform assigned job duties. There is a post-employment offer physical exam and substance abuse testing.
Education
High school diploma or GED certificate required.
Experience
Minimum one-year related work experience in apartment maintenance or home remodeling / rehabilitation
Transportation
Valid driver’s license on file at all times; ability to furnish and willingness to use personal car for Housing Authority business. Personal vehicle must be insured in accordance with Illinois State Law.

MAINTENANCE AIDE
- This is a temporary position with the expectation of full-time work (40 hours per week). However, there is no guarantee as to a minimum number of hours of work each week.
- The primary assignment of the Maintenance Aide is to perform the work needed to make vacant units ready for occupancy and to ensure the unit passes the local municipal inspection, at applicable locations. However, the Maintenance Aide may be assigned a wide range of duties / tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of multi-family residential properties.
- This position is not exempt from Federal Wage Hour Overtime Labor provisions. Therefore, in the event actual hours worked exceed forty per week over-time rates apply.
- All assigned duties will be consistent with the attached “Maintenance Aide” Duties which are subject to periodic change or modification and be performed under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, Asset Management Director and Property Manager subject to all policies and regulations established by the Board of Commissioners and Executive Director.
MAINTENANCE AIDE DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Prepare and paint vacant units
- Perform basic maintenance tasks as assigned and capable, potentially involving plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, painting, carpentry, floor replacement, etc.
- Clean units as needed to make ready for occupancy, including, but not limited to sweep, mop and wax floors; clean stoves and refrigerators; clean bathtubs and sinks / vanities; and other components of unit (windows, mirrors, cabinets, closets, etc.).
- General grounds maintenance including trash removal (including removal of trash / debris from vacant units).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
