Substitute Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
Behavior Technicians substitute work under the supervision of Classroom Teachers and School Social Workers. Behavior Technicians provide support to students within the student’s assigned classroom or program. The support provided by this position is to facilitate implementation of a student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP, schoolwide PBIS and assist the student in learning more socially acceptable behaviors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Must be interested in gaining knowledge in child development, emotional impairment, general and abnormal psychology.
- CPR and First Aid training preferred.
- CPI training or willingness to obtain CPI and de-escalation training.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Must be physically able to lift, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist up to 50 pounds
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out specific behavioral objectives for students.
- Implement proactive and reactive strategies of Behavior Intervention Plans and PBIS Strategies
- Assist in charting and data collection of inappropriate and maladaptive behaviors of some students.
- Assist students in personal self-help skills
- Assist in receiving and delivering students to and from the buses.
- Assist in delivering lesson plans and in preparing materials for instructions.
- Follow all rules and regulations identified in the Employee Handbook.

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect and record money, forms, notes and other record keeping necessary for the room and the school.
- Assist in the maintenance of classroom and related supplies and materials.
- Assist in the maintenance and general housekeeping of the classroom and school.
- Assist in preparing the classroom, bulletin boards and display cases for the room and center.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position Type: Temporary, on-call basis, substitute position.
Salary Range: Based on District annual daily substitute rate.
