Substitute Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
The substitute teacher is responsible for specific and general classroom instruction of the students and for directing and coaching behavior technicians. Reports to the Principal. Must be physically and emotionally able to manage aggressive and maladaptive behaviors of students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Substitute Teaching Permit
- Experience in special education preferred
- Must be physically able to lift, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist up to 50 pounds
- CPI training or willingness to obtain CPI and de-escalation training
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in receiving and delivering students to and from the buses
- Develop lesson plans and prepare materials for instructions when appropriate
- Assist students in personal self-help skills
- Direct and monitor teacher aides in the classroom and in the community
- Prepare, present and maintain assessment evaluation on the progress of students
- Implement proactive and reactive strategies of Behavior Intervention Plans and PBIS Strategies
- Participate in the IEPC and MET meetings when appropriate
- Maintain cooperative relations and collaborate with ancillary staff
- Follow all RESA rules and regulations identified in the Employee Handbook

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain proper care and general maintenance of the classroom
- Collect and record money, forms, notes and other record keeping necessary for the room and the school.
- Maintain proper supervision of all equipment and material in the classroom
- Assist in screening, evaluating and securing appropriate supplies, materials, and equipment in the classroom
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings when appropriate
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment Type: School year only, temporary, on-call basis, substitute position.
Salary Range: $150/day with at least 60 semester credit hours, $200/day with Bachelor's degree
