The Billing Specialist prepares and follows up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepares electronic billing for reimbursements from third parties.
• Follows up on insurance claims to facilitate payment.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation timely. Processes mail inquiries and files accounts for security, accessibility, and audit purposes.
• Follows collection process. Maintains Bad Debt Process and maintains information on write-off accounts.
• Reports payments to the agency as established.
• Prepares remits from third-party payers following the company’s established procedures.
• Batch, code, and key remits as established for each payer class.
• Prepares financial contracts for payment plans.
• Prepares charity and indigent care applications.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required
Experience:
Previous clerical experience preferred
