What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Pract Nurse - HPTL position at St. Claire HealthCare?
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care and care coordination to assigned patients under the supervision of the RN.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Performs all nursing skills and procedures according to established criteria of competent practice. Uses correct scientific and formal reasoning in skills performance.
• Exhibits culture awareness and age-specific care by providing appropriate age and developmental care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner. Integrates ethical provisions in nursing practice and delivers care that preserves and respects the privacy, confidentiality, and diversity of patients and families.
• Maintains a safe physical environment including proper use and storage of equipment and ensuring a hazard-free patient area.
• Performs all unit routines and requirements as expected. Utilizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice in performing specific unit routine requirements.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.
• Delegates tasks appropriately to other personnel and understands the scope of practice for delegating tasks.
• Assesses learning needs and provides tailored education to the patient/family related to care, treatment, and potential risks relevant to the patient. Ensure a comprehensive understanding and document accordingly.
Education:
Graduate from an approved practical nursing program
Experience:
Previous nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a current license from the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN)
Basic Life Support Certification
