The Safety & Transport Technician provides clinical support services by transporting patients to and from patient care areas, providing one-on-one observation, and assisting in the progression of patient mobility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepares patients for transport to and from patient care areas, making special considerations for patients in contact and/or airborne precautions.
• Utilizes safe moving techniques and appropriate equipment for transferring or lifting patients.
• Promotes the progression of patient transport through safe patient transfer assistance, therapeutic exercises, and transport activities.
• Provides 1:1 continuous supervision (as assigned) to patients who require observation for safety reasons in the absence of family or caregivers.
• Maintains a safe environment conducive to effective team functioning and positive patient outcomes.
• Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities when necessary.
• Maintains clear lines of communication to ensure patient safety, care coordination, and teamwork.
• Responds to calls for assistance in a timely and friendly manner.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first year of employment
