Position Title: Christian Education Instructor
The Christian Education Instructor promotes the students’ understanding of Bible-based Christian truths and principles and encourages their application in the students’ daily lives.
- By teaching carefully designed, developmentally appropriate Christian Education courses.
- By modeling appropriate, effective integration of Christian principles across all academic disciplines and grade levels.
- By supporting faculty as they endeavor to create a nurturing Christian environment to encourage their students’ spiritual growth through interaction, teaching, and daily activities
Reports to: Middle School Division Head
Start Date: July 1, 2025
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:45 AM-11:45 or 11:30-3:30-3:50 PM; additional time as needed for meetings and professional development.
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Fulfill standard classroom teacher responsibilities and student supervision duties.
- Understand and uphold school policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook and the Family Handbook.
- Cultivate and maintain respectful relationships with all school community members.
- Serve as lead instructor for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Christian Education courses.
- Explore and recommend research-informed Christian Education course curriculums.
- Collaborate with colleagues to uphold horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment across grade levels.
- Maintain professional organization memberships and pursue professional learning opportunities related to enhancing teaching expertise.
Chapel and Spiritual Growth Responsibilities:
- Serve on school’s chapel committee to guide and choose chapel curriculum content used and to plan special seasonal or holiday services.
- Collaborate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of Christian Education resources for chapel lessons.
- Coordinate chapel teaching rotations for Monday (first-eighth grades) and Tuesday/Friday (fifth-eighth grades) Chapels.
- Teach in chapel as needed.
- Coordinate and train Wednesday Chapel acolytes.
- Promote a culture safe for students to ask questions regarding their spiritual development. Example - Hold “lunch bunch” type gatherings weekly for designated grade levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Relevant teaching and tech experience.
- Certifications associated with teaching and Christian Education desirable.
The person who fills this position must have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and be highly organized and detail oriented. The person also needs to be an effective communicator.
