JOB SUMMARY:
As an SPD Supervisor with CentraCare, you will ensure patient safety and decrease infectious risk to our patients by supervising and assessing the quality of work activities of all Sterile Processing personnel to insure safe, compliant, and timely reprocessing of medical devices. Actively working alongside personnel, while ensuring daily questions and concerns are addressed. Supports and implements training for the Sterile Processing Department to ensure patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Patients of all ages served. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.
This position will oversee the second shift team including 10-15 Technicians and Tech Leads.
Schedule:
- Evenings | 8-hour shifts | 2:30pm - 11pm (mainly)
- Full-time | 80 Hours every two weeks
Pay and Benefits (Total Rewards)
- Wage rates start at $21.85 per hour, offering more with experience.
- Full pay range for this position is $21.85 to $32.76 hourly
- Evening shift differential is $1.50 per hour (after 3pm).
- Weekend shift differential is $1.05 per hour when occurring.

Core Functions:
- Supervises the daily operational activities of Sterile Processing while actively performing the daily work alongside personnel.
- Assists manager to conducts interviews, selects/hires and coordinates orientation to develop qualified personnel.
- Develops educational plans for Sterile Processing employees and evaluates employees based on CentraCare policies and procedures and infection control guidelines.
- Responsible for coaching staff and providing an open line of communication for staff to voice concerns, give feedback or make suggestions.
- Helps staff develop individual plans to meet career goals through educational, mentoring, and other self-growth opportunities.
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving activities with staff, customers, physicians, and other departments. Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
- Rounds and conducts inspections, ensuring quality of work is maintained and recorded.
- Enhances communication between leadership and staff providing ongoing feedback on hospital-wide/department goals and objectives.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED graduate or equivalent required.
Experience:
- 3 years minimum experience in Sterile Processing or other relevant healthcare or management experience.
- Must have training in Sterile Core
- Must have an advanced working knowledge of microbiology, infection control principles, sterilization practices, and inventory handling and management.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Personnel (CSPDT) required within 1 year of hire.
- Educational requirements and certified status must be maintained throughout the duration of his/her employment.
