Job Title: HR Training & Safety Specialist

This position is located at our St. Cloud Industrial Products Headquarters in St. Cloud, also known as the Granite City, is home to several parks and attractions highlighting our granite mining history. For example, Quarry Park and Nature Preserve is a 683 acre preserve with 20 former granite quarries and is a great place to swim, scuba, fish, climb, or admire.
Position Description:
As a member of the SCIPI shared services team, the HR Generalist plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR team with a strong focus on payroll administration, benefits coordination, employee record management, reporting and compliance. This role works closely with the Senior HR Manager to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and support across multiple HR functions.
Essential Functions
- Payroll Administration: process and manager bi-weekly payroll, pay changes, garnishments, tax setup, and benefits. Ensure accuracy in Paycor, generate payroll reports, and assist with year-end reporting and audits
- Benefits Administration: assist with benefit enrollment and audits, maintain HRIS plan data, process COBRA notices, and administer 401(k) and DSP contributions. Oversee benefit onboarding for new hires, ensuring smooth integration, participate in vendor meetings, and manage benefit billing accuracy
- Employee Records & Compliance: maintain accurate team member records in HRIS, process status changes and terminations, respond to VOE requests, and support compliance reporting including AAP, PICORI, IRS, EEOC, and census submissions
- Employee Engagement: coordinate birthday and milestone celebrations and manage monthly gift card disbursement to supervisors
- Reporting & General Support: assist with HR audits, ESOP administration, payroll reconciliations, and participate in team meetings, policy development, and company events, and perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience:
- Associate’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2 years or experience in HR, payroll, or benefits administration
- Working knowledge of payroll systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field
- 3 years of HR experience in a generalist capacity
- Familiarity with Paycor and exposure to multi-state payroll and tax setup
- Experience with 401(k) administration and benefits audits
- Knowledge of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) and their administration
- Certifications: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. at a time and perform physical task related to safety inspections
- Must be able to meet with employees and conduct tours at multiple sites including inside shop locations which may be dusty or dirty for the purpose of assisting employees and potential new hires
