Pay
- $17-20 per hour
- Pay rate based on qualifications and experience
- Part-Time, Seasonal, Not Benefit Eligible
Hours of Work
- 2025 Wading Pool Season: Open June 13th – August 17th, Tuesdays-Sundays 1-7pm
- Hours include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Minimum requirement of working 2 or more weekends a month.
- Work anywhere from 10-39 hours weekly!
- Hours may be limited by inclement weather.
Typical Duties Performed
- Actively guard and scan the pool area at all times, refraining from socializing while guarding.
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
- Enforce all aquatic facility rules, regulations, and policies, maintaining a consistent discipline policy for all patrons.
- Use training to prevent accidents in the water and on the deck.
- Communicate clear and concise information as needed to patrons, students, emergency medical personnel, and police services.
- Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR, if necessary.
- Inspect the facility before and after your shift and report unsafe conditions of equipment to the supervisor.
- Complete necessary records and reports.
- Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength, and endurance).
- Maintain clean facilities for the public, including the pool deck and restrooms.
- Show professionalism in all aspects of the job.
- Maintain confidentiality with co-workers, participants, and the public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What is needed to apply for this job?
- Job seekers should be age 15 or older
- Current CPR-AED/First Aid certifications or will to be certified
- Current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification or will to be certified
- Training & certification or recertification provided for those who commit to working the entire 2025 wading pool season (June 13th – August 17th, 2025)
- Weekend availability
- Ability to lift/move 50 pounds
- Ability to complete tasks without supervision
- Reasonable physical shape
- Leadership, decision-making, and public relations skills

- Have previous lifeguard or swim team experience
