Job Description
Performs routine labor in a park, on trails, or other public grounds; and performs related duties as required. (Employees under this title are hired for seasonal work only.)

Supervision Received
Works under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Type of Position
- Hours will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must adhere to work schedule and hours assigned.
- Hours may be limited by inclement weather.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of lawn and grounds care.
- Ability to perform moderately difficult manual labor, including ability to lift heavy objects, to climb heights, and perform other duties associated with the job.
- Ability to perform tasks of a physical nature, including bending, kneeling, lifting; and to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, cold).
- Working ability to run small engine equipment such as lawn mowers, weed whips, blowers, and other equipment as necessary.
- Responsible work attitude, as well as reliable, organized work habits.
- Working ability to understand and follow directions.
- Working ability to communicate effectively with the public and enforce the park rules.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license, or equivalent out-of-state license, with no moving violation suspensions or revocations (including DUI) within the one-year period prior to the date of appointment (suspensions for parking-related offenses excluded).
- Must be able to read, write, and perform simple computations.
Typical Duties Performed
- Mowing grass, raking leaves, picking up brush and branches.
- Assures that Parks are kept neat and orderly by picking up garbage and replacing garbage bags in the receptacles.
- Serves as attendant at a park pavilion, picnic area or parking lot, as assigned. (special events, fireworks).
- Assists other parks workers in building and grounds maintenance work, including cleaning public restrooms, pools, and fountains.
- Works as pool attendant, cleaning pool and areas around the pool, verifies that chemical levels are in compliance.
- Performs daily maintenance, including washing of mowers, trailers, trucks.
- Performs building maintenance work, painting, repair of permanent structures.
Physical Factors
- Ability to perform tasks of a physical nature, including bending, kneeling, lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to perform in a variety of weather conditions; heat, humidity, rain, cold and wind.
