At St. Colman’s we strongly believe in the importance of education for ALL students. We are currently looking for an energetic, dedicated individual to add to our team.
St. Colman’s Home welcomes students ranging from 5 to 21 years of age in our education program. We are a day treatment program that is comprised of students with a wide variety of special needs. We currently have 8 classrooms that are at a 6:1:1 student to teacher ratio. At St. Colman’s Home each classroom strives to provide individualized instruction to fit the needs of each student. Our school offers a full curriculum in a structured, supportive environment providing students with a variety of academic and vocational opportunities.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, goal oriented, and caring individual to fill the position of Special Education Teacher. Job responsibilities include: Providing daily instruction to students with special needs, utilizing and assessing student’s academic and behavioral goals via the IEP, collecting student data, and utilizing NYS standards in order to implement an effective curriculum. The hours are 8:00-3:00 Monday –Friday. We ask that applicants be willing to commit for a full school year which includes a six week summer program. Minimum Qualifications:
· Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with others
· Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
· Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
· Demonstrate an ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
· Must have display strong communication skills
· Work as part of a team to develop IEP’s
· Participate in CSE meetings and effectively communicate with parents
· Supervise teacher assistants
· Must be willing to obtain and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification through our agency’s training program
TEACHER CERTIFICATION IS A MUST!
Salary is commensurate with experience.
A Bachelor’s degree is required
