St. David Catholic School in Davie, Florida is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable full-time Computer Teacher with experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, digital literacy, and a passion for integrating STEM concepts into the curriculum. S/he will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to explore the world of technology and its applications in STEM fields. The Computer Teacher performs all duties in alignment with the vision, mission, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive computer science curriculum that aligns with school standards and incorporates STEM principles.
- Teach computer science courses, including topics such as coding, programming, web design, robotics, and digital literacy.
- Integrate STEM concepts into computer science lessons to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
- Stay updated with the latest educational technologies and incorporate them into the classroom.
- Student Engagement and Support:
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Provide guidance and support to students, helping them develop strong computational thinking and technical skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Teaching certification or license in computer science or a related area.
- Proven experience in teaching computer science or technology courses, preferably with experience in STEM education.
- Preferred: Experience with project-based learning and hands-on STEM activities.
- Preferred: Familiarity with current educational standards in computer science and STEM.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and educational technologies (e.g., coding platforms, robotics kits).
- Strong understanding of STEM concepts and the ability to integrate them into the curriculum.
- Ability to integrate STEM concepts into computer science lessons to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
- Ability to to stay up to date with the latest educational technologies and incorporate them into the classroom.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good classroom management skills.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring students in the fields of technology and STEM.
- Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
