St. David Catholic School in Davie, Florida has an opening for a qualified Curriculum Specialist for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. S/he fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by working with the principal in the overall management of curriculum and instruction. The Curriculum Specialist is appointed, delegated authority, supervised, and evaluated by the principal. This person assists in ensuring the professional effectiveness of the staff and the educational progress of the students. The Curriculum Specialist is responsible with the principal for specific delegated responsibilities for the total school program as described in the job functions listed below The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will be based on years of service and certification.
Functions and Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Administrators and Faculty to support academic goals.
- Collaborate with subject-specific teachers (math, reading, social studies, etc.) to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- In close collaboration with the principal, exercise delegated leadership in the academic programs.
- Assist the Principal and Assistant Principal with organizing ongoing orientation, team meetings, faculty meetings, and professional staff development programs for educational development of faculty and staff.
- Curriculum Development and Alignment:
- Ensure the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum using a variety of pedagogical strategies.
- Ensure the curriculum aligns with state or national standards.
- Maintain current and accurate student records according to Diocesan and school policy.
- Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principal with managing student data programs.
- Collect and analyze data for program improvement in conjunction with the faculty and interpret results for program improvement.
- Administer placement testing for new students and meet with parents to discuss results.
- Teacher Support and Professional Development:
- Provide teachers with resources and strategies for effective teaching.
- Organize and facilitate professional development workshops and training for teachers.
- Offer guidance in lesson planning, assessment, and instructional strategies.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Help design and assess student assessments to measure academic progress.
- Analyze student performance data to guide curriculum adjustments and improvements.
- Instructional Leadership:
- Act as a resource for teachers in instructional practices and classroom management.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Assists with a faculty newsletter and parent newsletter in collaboration with the principal.
- Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive and accessible to all students, including those with special needs.
- Promote diverse teaching strategies that cater to a variety of learning styles.
- Provide for an orderly school environment and promotes student self-discipline.
- Develop faculty and student/parent handbooks in accordance with Archdiocesan guidelines in conjunction with administration.
- Oversee faculty and staff committees as assigned.
- Manage the adoption and replacement of textbooks, instructional materials, and educational software on a regular cycle, ensuring that the faculty are provided with the necessary instructional resources within the limits of the academic budget in conjunction with the Principal and Director of Administration.
- Assist the Principal as assigned in completing and submitting all official forms required by the Office Catholic Schools, and other agencies.
- Support the referral process for student evaluation within the public school system.
- Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership (preferred) or equivalent credentials/experience.
- Experience with Catholic schools' curricula, teaching, and learning requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed and demonstrated administrative, organizational, supervisory, team building and project management skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Practicing Catholic; fully committed, supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
