Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Lead Endoscopy Technician, you will have overall responsibility for a designated endoscopy procedural area. You will be responsible for ensuring all equipment, supplies and instruments are available and operational. You will train and mentor other staff, and function under the direction endoscopy leadership to facilitate the safe and effective completion of endoscopic gastrointestinal and bronchoscopy procedures. You will facilitate instrument and scope repairs, ensure accuracy and organization of equipment, instruments, logs, and documentation, prepare and transport equipment to assist with procedures, and act as a preceptor and teacher to less experienced staff.

• You will assist in transferring and positioning patients
• You will handle dirty linens and equipment
• You will respond to patient and family needs and notify Charge Nurse of changes in patient status
• You will ensure documentation on pre-procedure checklist is complete and accurate, appropriate consent forms are completed, and physicians are notified of any conditions which may affect the procedure
• You will demonstrate understanding of each procedure and the equipment indicated
• You will assure patient safety during transporting and while the patient is in the procedure room
• You will clean and sterilize equipment and the procedure rooms
• You will be a dedicated preceptor and provide ongoing clinical support for new Endoscopy Technicians
• You will ensure on-call schedules are completed each month
• You will demonstrate knowledge of proper specimen collection, handling, labeling and submitting to appropriate departments

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

• 3 years of experience in advanced endoscopy, or SGNA certification

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• If Surgical Technologist, graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or hospital conducted on the job training with proof of program content and completion prior to September 1, 2009

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support Certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist - preferred
• SGNA certification - preferred
