Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Throughput Coordinator, you will coordinate the assignment of patient care beds within the hospital. The Throughput Coordinator collaborates with multiple departments within the hospital and facilitates regularly scheduled bed management meetings with hospital staff to identify and communicate bed utilization issues. The Throughput Coordinator will identify, trend, and report barriers to patient throughput.
- You will evaluate and implement patient flow to ensure maximization of hospital resources.
- You will participate in the discharge of patients through the facility discharge suite to include patient and family education.
- You will evaluate, monitor, and improve the patient flow program effectiveness as it relates to utilization review, resource management, and discharge planning and care coordination.
- You will establish patient flow goals in coordination with the Director of Nursing Operations, House Supervisor, hospital executive team and monitor progress toward the goals through tracking tools such as NATE, ED dashboard and Teletracker.
- You will facilitate the ongoing training and education of staff to meet regulatory, hospital, and department policies
- You will serve as the educational leader to physicians and employees as it relates to resource management and patient flow.
- You will collaborate with the One Call transfer center process and implement actions for increased throughput.
Experience
- 5 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting – preferred
- 3 years of nursing experienced in an acute care setting - required
- Experience with electronic health record and bed management system - required
- Experience in bed management – preferred
Education
- Associates of Science in Nursing (ADN) – required
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy
- National Specialty Certification - preferred
