St. David’s seeks a dynamic, talented, and dedicated Lower School Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year (with possible extension) who, with considerable freedom to be innovative, inspire students to think critically, reason logically, and express themselves clearly. In addition, St. David’s values a variety of instruction, including inquiry-based learning, seminar-style discussions, and hands-on projects. Teachers should have the ability to work collaboratively with their peers and develop and deliver effective lessons that differentiate instruction for a diverse group of learners.

Lower School Art Teacher
- Provides direct and comprehensive instruction in art education to PK-4th grade students, assessing and providing feedback and guidance to develop students’ performance skills, artistic abilities, and understanding.
- Casts a vision for the development of the program that aligns with the school’s mission and goals.
- Plans and delivers engaging art lessons that incorporate various artistic techniques and mediums.
- Collaborates generously within the Fine Arts Department to integrate art education into the broader curriculum of the school.
- Plans and implements exhibits that showcase student development and progress. Organizes and displays student artwork throughout the school and at special events.
- Fosters a positive and engaging learning environment that inspires students to develop their artistic skills.
- Maintains art equipment, an organized, safe, and inspiring classroom, and manages resources effectively, including an annual lower school budget and donations.
- Supports St. David’s in its Mission, leadership, and policies.
- Actively supports and acts in accordance with the school’s mission.
- Demonstrates thorough planning and preparation for instruction.
- Evaluates all students’ development effectively.
- Provides a classroom atmosphere that inspires learning.
- Shows evidence of professional standards in:
- Personal presentation (positive demeanor, apparel, personal grooming).
- Punctuality to school and to class.
- Professional courtesy, discretion in words and deeds, and proper boundaries with students.
- Responds to the needs of the school and other areas as determined by the School Administrators.
- Seeks professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrates mastery of subject matter.
- Commits to spiritual growth and encourages students to develop courtesy, self-control, respect, and responsibility by modeling these behaviors.
