Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality radiographs in line with ARRT standards. This role requires a thorough understanding of human anatomy, patient care, positioning techniques, radiation safety, and radiographic technologies while adhering to the ARRT Code of Ethics and St. David's Healthcare Values.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all types of diagnostic radiographic procedures including emergency, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable imaging.
  • Utilize radiographic equipment and accessories to efficiently perform procedures.
  • Interpret and carry out referring physicians' orders accurately.
  • Implement safe radiation protection measures complying with hospital policies.
  • Assist radiologists in procedures that require sterile techniques.
  • Prepare and administer necessary radiopaque contrast media for exams.
  • Evaluate patients' conditions before and during radiological procedures.
  • Deliver excellent patient care throughout imaging exams.
  • Align patients' clinical histories with the procedures while ensuring documentation is readily available.
  • Undertake additional departmental responsibilities as required.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance of equipment, and report any issues to supervisors.
  • Qualifications

    Education :

  • Graduate of an American Medical Association-accredited program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent qualifications for Texas certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Experience :

  • Entry-level graduates will be considered depending on shift responsibilities.
  • Licenses and Certifications :

  • Certification or Temporary Certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT (R) Certified in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or eligible with the requirement to obtain ARRT (R) certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
