Job Summary and Qualifications

Reporting directly to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Clinical Operations has overall accountability for House Supervisors, Staffing Resource Team, Throughput, Nursing Productivity and special projects as assigned by executive nursing leadership. The Director of Clinical Operations has the responsibility to coordinate / facilitate action steps / direct referrals / etc. of clinical issues and expected outcomes. The Director of Clinical Operations manages and directs the needs of Nursing Administration through budget planning and overall supervision of practice and administrative issues.

You will accept primary responsibility for Special Program assignment by executive nursing leadership. Examples include : Regulatory preparation / processes Procedural development assistance with new services. NEC presentations as well as initiates action from issues discovered, independently. When requested, serves as a resource / contact for other areas of the organization.

  • You will independently seek opportunity to identify and actively streamline inefficiencies in nursing areas through action plans and follow-up with Directors of involved areas.
  • You will coordinate / prioritize plans through nursing executives to assure organizational objectives are in line.
  • You will chair assigned committees / councils and creates strategic objectives with measurable outcomes for success
  • You will collect data for the staffing indicators and reports at assigned venues / meetings
  • You will be a member of Inpatient and Outpatient Satisfaction Team
  • You will have 24 / 7 accountability and ownership for assigned areas of oversight
  • You will assure that supervisory staff follow correct polices to initiate use of supplemental staff.
  • You will prepare capital, revenue, and expense budgets annually
  • You will collect data related to nursing and reports data regularly to nursing leadership and senior leadership
  • You will assure nursing departments adhere to budget projections by reviewing daily operating reports
  • You will maintain productivity within acceptable benchmarks and provides variance information to nurse executives
  • You will review and support nursing leaders in developing and updating department Facility Position Controls
  • You will support and act as a resource for nursing leadership when the need is identified.
  • You will visit department / staff unit meetings as requested / necessary to improve nursing operations maintains / initiates frequent updates to nurse executives routinely and on an as needed basis 24 hours a day
  • You will identify trends, patterns, and issues necessitating follow-up and resolution
  • You will demonstrate understanding of HCAs and Patients First safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures
  • What qualifications you will need :

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5 years of progressive management experience in an acute care hospital
  • St. Davids Surgical Hospital is a destination surgical facility located in north Austin,Texas. A campus of St.

    Davids North Austin Medical Center, this hospital features 40 inpatientrooms , several operating suites, pre-op and PACU bays, and an intensive care unit(ICU). The campus specializes in orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, gynecological, and urologicalsurgeries, but includes services such as imaging and pharmacy.
