Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As a PACU nurse, you will plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for assigned patients.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Completing an age-appropriate assessment on each assigned patient and creating a specific plan of care upon patient arrival
- Obtaining supplies, equipment, and medication needed for patient care
- Monitoring the patient throughout the recovery phase
- Identifying and correcting airway obstructions, ensuring uninterrupted oxygen therapy, and extubating patients
- Administering IV therapy
- Recognizing and reporting variations in patient condition to the appropriate individuals (physician, anesthesiologist, clinical nurse coordinator)
What We Are Looking For:
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in PACU or Critical Care Unit
- Previous acute care experience - preferred
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
